ShudhVayu offers patented vehicle-mounted air filtration systems designed to reduce air pollution effectively. The filters are attached to vehicles and function passively, capturing pollutants as the vehicle moves. This innovative technology, developed and validated in collaboration with IIT Delhi and DST, aims to address urban air quality challenges by leveraging the extensive use of vehicles in cities. ShudhVayu's technology can remove pollutants like PM2.5 and other harmful particles from the air, contributing significantly to air purification. If widely adopted, it is estimated that these filters could eliminate up to 40 tons of air pollutants daily in Delhi, making it a scalable solution for urban centres.

Passive, vehicle-mounted detachable air filters

Shudvayu Air Filters for four-wheelers are silent, efficient, and designed to clean the surrounding air using the motion of moving vehicles. These filters utilize dust filtration foam layers to effectively capture carbon particles, including PM 2.5 and PM 10, directly from the ambient air. The innovative system operates automatically without requiring any external power source, leveraging the vehicle's movement for filtration. Vehicles equipped with Shudvayu air purifiers can remove total suspended particulate matter (PM) in the range of 0.012–0.049 g/km on non-foggy days while in motion. Additionally, the filters are low maintenance and come with free servicing for one year post-installation, making them a sustainable and user-friendly solution for cleaner air.

Key features

  • Patented Shudhvayu Air Purifier is equipped with 3 stage filtration & 5 different pore sized fibre & dust filtration foam layers capturing carbon particles PM 2.5 & PM 10 from air when mounted on the roof tops of moving cars like hatchbacks, sedans & SUVs; can clean minimum 33 metres ~ 109 feet height of the air column. The device is validated by IIT Delhi and DST.
  • Pre filter & HEPA filter of Shudhvayu air purifier have capabilities to capture particulate
  • pollutant greater than (>) 10 microns and filter up to 0.3 microns respectively. The vehicular mounted energy-efficient and eco-friendly air purifiers function automatically with the moving vehicles without depending on any external/artificial power source and capable of reducing PM2.5 levels from 450 to near zero under optimal conditions.
  • According to the tests conducted by IIT Delhi, while the vehicle mounted with Shudhvayu air-purifier moves, it removes total suspended particulate matter in ambient air on non-foggy days in the range of 0.012 to 0.049 g/km. The removal is observed to be related to ambient PM 2.5/PM 10 concentrations.
