Roundtable on
Plastic value Chain with
" Indo-Danish Plastic Network "
The growing concern over plastic pollution necessitates an urgent, collaborative approach to mitigate its environmental impact. India and Denmark, both committed to ambitious climate goals, established a Green Strategic Partnership in 2020 to enhance political cooperation, economic relations, and green growth. A key focus of this partnership is the circular economy, with both countries prioritizing solid waste management, as drafted in India’s Resource Efficiency Policy and Denmark's Circular Economy Strategy. Indo-Danish Plastic (IDP) Innovation Network is a direct outcome of this strategic G2G engagement to explore transnational collaboration opportunities within the plastic value chain. DRIIV’s collaboration with CLEAN, the Danish Environment Cluster is part of the IDP Innovation Network.
The roundtable, hosted under the aegis of RESOLVE 3.0, was an integral part of the IDP project and aimed at bringing together industry innovators, academicians, and government bodies towards promoting a synergistic approach to tackling plastic waste. By integrating industry expertise, academic insights, and policy frameworks, tangible steps were discussed to ensure that advancements and policies are translated into concrete, impactful actions. It served as a showcasing platform where successful use cases and emerging technologies that contribute to effective plastic waste management were highlighted.
Ms. Vandana Rao, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, MCD, outlined seven critical challenges in Delhi’s plastic waste management, sparking a call for collaborative solutions. Topics included informal sector contributions, cost-effective decentralized systems, global benchmarks, waste composition analysis, advanced waste-to-energy tech, and high-value products from MLPs.
In a major step toward driving private capital into clean tech innovation, the Green Fellowship under MASHAAL Program-a collaboration with the M3M Foundation-was launched. MASHAAL will provide financial support to innovators focusing on Clean Energy Transition and Environmental Sustainability, empowering them to scale impactful solutions.
With industry, academia, and government stakeholders aligned, DRIIV is positioned to deliver sustainable change through robust public-private partnerships and transnational cooperation. These collaborations will not only address immediate plastic waste challenges but also pave the way for scalable, high-impact solutions for a greener future.
By working unison we can be one step closer to creating a circular economy in plastic value chain.
