The first segment of CKIC-DRIIV's (Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation) Project SAMEER (Solutions for Air-pollution Mitigation through Engagement, Engineering and Research), was uncovered on 19th October 2022 through a webinar on the health impact of stubble burning. The event was jointly organised by the Lung Care Foundation and India Paryavaran Sahayak (IPS Foundation). Whilst Lung Care Foundation has been relentlessly working in spreading awareness about the adverse health impact of air pollution for many years, IPS Foundation is engaged with the farmer community on many sustainability and welfare initiatives.
Special thanks to Mr. Rajiv Khurana, Dr. P. S. Bakshi, Mr. Ahsanul Haq, and Mr. Ritesh Bhatia for their continued efforts in combating the issue of 'Parali' burning on the ground. Dr. Arvind Kumar, Chairman, Institute of Chest surgery, Medanta, along with his eminent colleagues from the medical fraternity discussed the harmful health impact of burning 'Parali' with farmers, NGOs, and local healthcare professionals in Punjab and Haryana. The influencers who attended the webinar, will in turn mobilise local communities to disincentive parali burning.
