Innovation in action

Enabling green mobility

DRIIV's integrated approach marks a significant step towards a smart, sustainable, and accessible EV ecosystem :

Development of Versatile EV Chargers :
  • Home chargers designed for 2/3/4 wheelers with advanced features like timer functionality and WiFi connectivity (2G/3G/4G).

  • AC Type 2 chargers developed, with ongoing advancements to enhance capabilities.

  • Smart Charging Management System (CMS) :
  • Introduced a mobile and web app to locate nearby charging stations and book slots, reducing user delays and streamlining access.

  • Created a secure, sustainable EV charging infrastructure optimized to minimize investment costs while enhancing city-wide accessibility.

  • Robust EV Charging and Battery Swapping Solutions :
  • Deployment of a Battery Swapping Station (BSS) at Ranibagh, Delhi, addressing range anxiety for 2W and 3W riders.

  • Ongoing optimization of EV charger placement to support both intra-city and inter-city vehicular movement.

Digitizing public transport

To enhance ridership and revenue collection of public transport, DRIIV contributed towards the development of the ‘One Delhi’ app, jointly with IIIT Delhi. This multi-modal transit app, adopted by the Delhi Government not only improved access to public transportation for DIMTS buses with features such as real time arrivals tracking and e-ticketing but also allows depot managers to track and manage fleets, for all 7000+ buses, running on 2000+ routes. The app currently experiences an average number of daily ticket sale of 1.5 lakh, with around 3 lakh active users. Ticketing service for Delhi Metro has also been recently been launched on this application.

COVID19 preparedness suite

DRIIV significantly contributed by developing AI/ML-based predictive platform for COVID and other infectious diseases, which was adopted at a national level by ICMR. The COVID AI Stack encompasses three key dashboards: Strainflow (utilizes AI to monitor Genomic Surveillance and Surge Prediction), EvidenceFlow (a publicly accessible web-application, updates on emerging trends monthly) and VacSim (employs AI to allocate vaccine resources efficiently across India). Additionally, digital dashboards to monitor Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and a Pandemic Preparedness suite collating data from various sources for future outbreak readiness are also being deployed. Furthermore, there is an early prediction model for sepsis and shock in neonatal and Pediatric ICUs operational in AIIMS PICUs.

Mapping Waterbodies of Delhi

In DRIIV’s water security vertical, IARI identified and mapped the location of c. 488 waterbodies out of 1040 in NCR with Wetland Authority of Delhi. The report was submitted to the Dept. of Environment, NCT Delhi, which was very appreciative of the cluster’s work. The department informed DRIIV that as part of the coming year’s City Action Plan, 200 water bodies out of the 480 identified, will be prioritised for rejuvenation. It has sought DRIIV’s help in providing technical expertise, technological intervention, external fundraising support and implementation of the rejuvenation programme.

Project SAMEER

DRIIV's one-of-its-kind pilot for clean air, Project SAMEER, executed with DPCC and GMDA, saw the implementation of a successful PPP model. It involved installation of PM monitoring and mitigating solutions in 13 hotspots provided by DPCC. The project achieved : a) Establishment of a technology validation process in real life conditions b) Use of private capital, via CSR to support technology led sustainability projects c) Using citizen science to engage communities for increased awareness and behavioural change

    Impact :
  • RSPL Welfare Foundation, as part of its robust CSR initiatives, played a pivotal role in spearheading and funding the installations of air filters for 4-wheelers from ShudhVayu. The deployment of ShudhVayu air purification devices on roof of vehicles has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in capturing and reducing AQI levels in the atmosphere and aided RSPL bagging the best CSR Impact award 2023, by UBS Forums.

  • One of the participating startups of project SAMEER - ActiveBuildings - has successfully deployed 100 AQI monitors in 3 Vande Bharat trains, ensuring hygiene, comfort and convenience for passengers in this luxury train. Monitors include VOC and Ammonia detectors, sounding alerts when intervention is needed.

Sustainable plastic waste management

Towards promoting environmental awareness and community engagement through collaboration with its ecosystem partner Blue Planet, DRIIV orchestrated a multifaceted program encompassing training sessions and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities focused on Waste Management (Collective Responsibility Drive). The overarching objective was to empower students with the requisite knowledge and skills to effect positive change in their communities, specifically addressing the issue of plastic waste management. Students displayed remarkable dedication and enthusiasm throughout waste collection drives, resulting in the accumulation of a substantial volume of plastic waste. This waste was subsequently processed and recycled to produce eco-friendly benches. So far distribution of benches made from recyclable plastic waste to government schools in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are 1000, 1000, 1400 respectively. These benches serve as tangible symbols of our collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
